The neighborhood

Montplaisir neighborhood, just a 10-minute walk or 3-minute metro ride.

The neighborhood has many advantages and is quickly becoming a competitor to the sought-after 6th and 4th arrondissements. Residential, commercial, and slightly bohemian, Montplaisir is appreciated for its village-like atmosphere, which is self-sufficient while still offering quick access to the city center via public transport. Located in the 8th arrondissement, it stands out from nearby areas such as Mermoz or Les États-Unis. When you take the time to wander through the market at Place Ambroise Courtois, shop along Avenue des Frères Lumière, or sit at a terrace frequented by students, it's easy to see why the residents love it. Some are lucky enough to live in one of the townhouses with gardens, which is considered the ultimate luxury.

Locals gather at the large market held at Place Ambroise-Courtois three days a week or visit the many shops on Avenue des Frères Lumière, the main street of the neighborhood. Montplaisir has all the essential amenities (schools, cultural centers, universities, etc.), and those who want to head to the Presqu'île can reach Place Bellecour in just 15 minutes by metro. Metro line D serves the neighborhood with the Monplaisir-Lumière and Sans-Souci stations.

The proximity of Edouard Herriot Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine, which marks the boundary with the Montchat neighborhood, and the presence of Jean Moulin Lyon III University in the former Manufacture des Tabacs building, adds to the vibrancy of the area, which is very popular among students.

Getting around

Very well-served by buses, metros, trams, and the city center is just 15 minutes away by public transport.

From Part-Dieu Station to the apartment: Take Metro Line B towards Gare d'Oullins and get off at Saxe-Gambetta. Then, take Metro Line D towards Gare de Vénissieux and get off at Grange Blanche. The apartment is a 5-minute walk.

From St. Exupéry Airport to the apartment: Take the Rhône Express towards Part-Dieu station and get off at Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie. Then, take Tram Line T3 towards Gare de Part-Dieu and get off at Dauphiné-Lacassagne. Finally, take bus C13 towards Grange Blanche and get off at Grange Blanche. The apartment is a 5-minute walk.
