The neighborhood

Parks, squares & relaxation areas

At Part-Dieu, nature takes on many forms, offering a variety of landscapes: squares, esplanades, planted walkways, green terraces, and hanging gardens all invite rest and relaxation. The Nelson Mandela Park and Jeanne Jugan Square are examples. More or less intimate, more or less open, all are always part of the green landscape that stretches from the Parc de la Tête d'Or to the north, to the Sergent Blandan Park to the south, as well as the banks of the Rhône. The public spaces will become greener to provide more freshness and offer better thermal comfort.

Sports and cultural facilities Need some entertainment or a change of pace? Take a walk on the Nelson Mandela esplanade, enjoy a concert at the Auditorium, catch a movie in one of the 14 cinema rooms, attend an event at the Bourse du Travail, or for sports enthusiasts, visit the Halle Vivier Merle and the Garibaldi swimming pool. For a quieter atmosphere, head to the municipal library or the consultation room at the Departmental and Metropolitan Archives. One of the project goals is to make this "cultural crossing" more accessible and connect these different locations better.

Shops The neighborhood offers a diverse range of shops. Concentrated and convenient with the Part-Dieu shopping center and the Halles Paul Bocuse, it is more scattered and varied in the different neighborhoods. In total, there are more than 800 shops in the area, 30% of which are cafés and restaurants. The shopping center houses 240 stores and restaurants, attracting 35 million visitors each year.
